Etopps IPO : Week of March 05, 2007
Â
This years basketball offerings have been especially poor on the return end. Only a handful of cards (Lebron James, Brandon Roy) have increased above their IPO price. I don’t expect any different from this weeks cards.
Â

Thabo Sefolosha
Let’s see, a reserve rookie guard, averaging only 11.9 minutes per game and a measly 3.5 PPG. Sure, the print run is low, but avoid this card like the plague.
Recommendation: Avoid at all Costs
Â
Â
Paul Millsap
Another part time bench player, averaging 18 minutes a game. During these minutes he’s been able to produce a decent line of 6.9 PPG, 5.1 RPG, and 1.1 BPG. But he has little chance to become a star, which is almost an Etopps must
Recommendation: Avoid

Â
Â
David Lee
Not a true rookie, Lee is in his second year. He has come along, averaging a double-double per game with 11.2 PPG, and 10.7 RPG. Playing in New York is a huge plus for this card, and the print run is a low 499. But a $6.50 charge may be difficult to maintain. I’ll give this a slight recommendation, solely due to the PR & New York factor.
Recommendation: Low quantity buy
Â
Â
Kyle Lowry
Yet another player that is simply not given the minutes. With only 5.6 PPG, let’s steer clear of this guy.
Recommendation: Avoid
Â
Â
Â
Jorge Garbajosa
Jorge is actually a half decent player. But he turns 30 in December of this year. This coupled with a fairly high PR of 699 will help us make our decision.
Recommendation: Avoid
Â
Â
Well, that does it for another week of disappointing basketball offerings from Etopps. Buy a couple of David Lee and see what happens. But otherwise, avoid this weeks IPO.
